A light, fun, and humorous read! "Say What" was our first read-aloud and it was perfect- silly, yet enlightening and engaging. The kids easily identified with the characters in he story which served as a springboard for getting to know each other at the beginning of the school year. We later went back to it and used it as a resource for our writing class. Dialogue, onomatopoeia, strong verbs, metaphors and VOICE abound in this short little example of "realistic fiction"!
